Chapter 11:Last Chance, Do You Still Want to Make a Mess?

“Oh, dear…” Old Mrs. Fu moaned, clutching her forehead as Fu Xingchen watched her. “I was nearly burnt to a crisp! I could even see your grandfather beckoning to me from the other side!” Jiang Lili was speechless. A flush of embarrassment crept up her neck as she felt Fu Xingchen’s probing gaze linger on her for a long moment before finally shifting to his grandmother. She pressed her lips together and sat in silence, watching the performance unfold, trying not to dwell on the meaning behind his stare. “Grandma.” Fu Xingchen strode into the room, his impeccably tailored suit hugging his frame. As his tall, commanding figure stood under the brilliant chandelier, he cast a shadow over Jiang Lili. She couldn’t help but look up at him. His face was obscured, a silhouette against the light, yet there was an undeniable magnetism to it that made her want to stare. “Grandson, do you know what your grandfather said while he was beckoning to me?” Old Mrs. Fu kept a hand on her forehead, her sharp little eyes peeking at Fu Xingchen through her fingers. Fu Xingchen carried an air of noble grace, his features handsome and refined—clearly a man of extraordinary caliber. She had always thought no woman was good enough for her grandson. But ever since she’d met Jiang Lili, she believed they were a match made in heaven. Jiang Lili was gentle and serene, her features so exquisite she looked like a porcelain doll. Her beauty and temperament were a perfect complement to Fu Xingchen’s. She couldn't even imagine how beautiful their children would be. “He said if you don't get to see a great-grandchild, you're not welcome down there.” The words slipped from Fu Xingchen’s thin lips, his gaze subtly falling on Jiang Lili. The woman’s seaweed-like hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her lips were red, her teeth white. As she leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees, the collar of her dress gaped slightly. The swell of her pale skin was reflected in the depths of his eyes. He swallowed, his body tensing. Old Mrs. Fu snapped her fingers, her gaze darting between them. “Exactly! That's just what he said. So, when are you two finally going to have a baby?” Jiang Lili was used to the old woman’s pressure to have children, but this method was so bizarre it was both comical and mortifying. Heat rose in her ears as she wondered how to escape this time. Usually, Old Mrs. Fu directed her nagging at Jiang Lili, and Fu Xingchen would leave her to fend for herself with some excuse. She’d already used every excuse she could think of. Caught between telling another lie and running away, she decisively chose to pass this hot potato to Fu Xingchen. “Grandma, that’s up to him.” The moment the words left her mouth, the look in Fu Xingchen’s eyes deepened. “Do you have the heart to make me face your grandfather with nothing to report?” Old Mrs. Fu craned her neck, demanding an answer from Fu Xingchen. Fu Xingchen adjusted one of his cufflinks, his tone indifferent. “A great-grandchild would be like a summons from Grandpa. I can’t bear to see you go, so we won’t have one.” Her own tactic turned against her, Old Mrs. Fu’s eyes went wide. It felt as if a ball of cotton was stuck in her throat, and she was rendered speechless. “Madam, dinner is ready,” a maid announced. Old Mrs. Fu seized the opportunity to escape the awkward standoff. “Let’s eat first. If I don’t eat, I really will have to go see your grandfather. I’ll stop pushing if I can’t win. One of these days, I’ll just have your grandfather come and push you himself…” After bringing up the divorce, Jiang Lili always felt uneasy around Fu Xingchen. The unpleasant conversation outside the restaurant that day was something she had no desire to repeat. Thankfully, Old Mrs. Fu was talkative, keeping the atmosphere at the dinner table harmonious. After dinner, Old Mrs. Fu pulled Jiang Lili to sit with her. “Your room has been prepared. Your parents aren’t coming back tonight, so you two will stay and keep me company.” “But…” Jiang Lili instinctively looked toward Fu Xingchen. Staying the night meant they would have to share a room. Given that they had an appointment to file for divorce next Wednesday, sharing a room would be awkward and uncomfortable. “What are you looking at him for?” Old Mrs. Fu’s tone left no room for argument. “I call the shots here!” In the end, Jiang Lili and Fu Xingchen were forced to stay. But after they went upstairs, Fu Xingchen went straight to the study. He would sleep there tonight—the proper course of action for a man on the verge of divorce. With that thought, Jiang Lili went back to their room to shower. Ten minutes later, she stepped out of the bathroom wrapped in a bath towel. Steam swirled around her, and her dripping hair clung to her cheeks, tracing a path down her swan-like neck to her collarbone. Standing before her was a man wearing only a pair of pajama pants. Fu Xingchen had already showered in the study, his short hair still damp. His honey-toned chest was well-defined, the V-taper of his torso disappearing into the waistband of his pants. An overpowering wave of masculine energy washed over her. Jiang Lili held her breath, her glistening eyes meeting the man’s cool gaze. Before she could ask what he was doing here, a powerful forearm shot out. His arm tightened around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. The soft curves of her chest pressed against his hard torso. Through the thin layer of terry cloth, the lingering dampness on her skin met the searing heat of his chest, weaving an intoxicating intimacy between them. “What are you doing!?” Jiang Lili pushed against his chest with one hand while clutching the towel that threatened to fall with the other. Fu Xingchen’s dark eyes, now clouded with desire, landed on her collarbone. “What do you think?” He pulled her even closer, grinding his body against hers. She could clearly feel the change in him. Jiang Lili’s eyes widened in disbelief, the image of Lin Xiran tidying Fu Xingchen’s private lounge flashing through her mind. Was his appetite really so great that he couldn’t last a single night? Even if he couldn’t control himself, he had no right to come after her anymore. “Do I need to remind you that we are getting a divorce?” Fu Xingchen let out a short, sharp laugh, as if he’d heard a hilarious joke. He raised a hand and gripped her chin, forcing her to look at him. “You even dragged Grandma into this just to create this opportunity. What’s with the act?” Every year, Old Mrs. Fu would go to a mountain monastery for a month of fasting and prayer. She had just left after the family dinner last Saturday. It had only been a week, which was indeed unusual. So, Fu Xingchen thought she had summoned Old Mrs. Fu from the mountain and fabricated the ‘fire’ to lure him back. “Grandma tricked me into coming here too!” Jiang Lili’s voice was urgent. She hated being misunderstood. Fu Xingchen was clearly unconvinced. The hand on her slender waist began to wander. “This act is getting old.” He was a man of few words and had no intention of wasting time calling out her petty schemes over a matter that was already settled. He hadn’t touched her in days. Given his current state of arousal, he could overlook her trickery tonight. He could even overlook the fact that she still hadn’t admitted she was wrong. As long as she satisfied him tonight, he would consider the matter closed. Jiang Lili’s lips parted to speak, but before she could, Fu Xingchen’s mouth crushed down on hers. His kiss was fierce and overwhelming, a tempest that left her tongue numb. A small whimper escaped her, which only seemed to make his breathing grow heavier. The disparity in strength was immense. Jiang Lili’s struggles did nothing to loosen his grip; instead, they ignited his desire to conquer. Her towel slipped, her hair fell into disarray. Under the warm light, her fair skin seemed to glow with a translucent allure. Passion seized him, his body drawn taut as flames flickered in the depths of his narrowed eyes. But her desperate resistance kept him from release, and his frustration mounted. After two years of marriage, he knew her well enough: she responded to a gentle touch, not to force. His voice, now hoarse and magnetic, was a seductive whisper. “Don’t you want this? Spread your legs. I’ll give it to you.” The thread of tension in Jiang Lili’s mind snapped, and her body involuntarily went limp. Though she looked slender, she was full-figured, her curves soft and yielding to the touch. Fu Xingchen lost all control, pressing her against the wall and deepening the kiss. His hand tore away the towel that had slipped to her waist, eager to take her, to give himself to her. Jiang Lili’s head spun. The roughness of his actions sent a jolt of pain through her, snapping her back to reality. Without a moment’s hesitation, she bit down. A sharp agony shot through his tongue, and the coppery taste of blood flooded his mouth. The lust in his eyes instantly morphed into fury. “Jiang Lili, are you done with this?! This is your last chance. Are you sure you want to keep fighting me?”
