It wasn't until Ji Sihan was some distance away that Lin Zechen realized who he was—the second son of the Ji family. He quickly released Shu Wan and hurried after him, hoping to offer a greeting.
But Ji Sihan got straight into his car, slamming the door shut with a resounding *thud*. In an instant, the dozen or so luxury cars parked outside pulled away in a synchronized procession.
Left standing in their wake, Lin Zechen could only turn back to find Shu Wan, but she had already vanished, escaping towards the guest elevators.
Lin Zechen touched his lips, the same ones that had just kissed Shu Wan, a predatory excitement gleaming in his eyes.
“Lin Yang, find her address.”
Lin Yang, who was standing right behind him, immediately replied, “Yes, sir.”
When Shu Wan got home, she dropped her bag and sank onto the sofa, her mind a daze.
She didn't stir until her phone rang, jolting her back to reality.
Pulling the phone from her bag, she frowned at the number on the screen.
Why would Su Qing be calling her?
Shu Wan hesitated for a moment before swiping to answer. “Assistant Su, is there something I can help you with?”
Su Qing’s respectful voice came through the line. “Miss Shu, I was just cleaning the apartment and found something of yours you left behind. When would be a good time for you to come and pick it up?”
Shu Wan had thought Ji Sihan might be trying to explain himself. The realization that it was just about a forgotten item made her heart plummet.
“Assistant Su, you can just throw it away for me.”
Without waiting for a reply, she hung up.
Then, with clean, decisive movements, she deleted every point of contact for both Su Qing and Ji Sihan.
Just yesterday, she had clung to the foolish hope that he would call, unable to bring herself to delete his number.
Now, knowing the truth, all hope had died within her.
She turned off her phone, curled up on the sofa, and drifted into a heavy sleep.
She had no idea how long she’d slept when a knock at the door startled her awake.
Shanshan had been working the night shift lately and always came back late. She’d left her spare key with Shu Wan.
Hearing the knock, Shu Wan assumed her friend was home from work and went to get the door.
But when she pulled it open, it wasn't Shanshan standing there. It was Lin Zechen.
At the sight of his handsome, predatory face, the color drained from hers.
She tried to slam the door shut, but he thrust a long arm out, forcing it open.
The sudden move sent her stumbling back a step in fright.
“Mr. Lin, what do you think you’re doing?!”
The pervert had actually followed her home.
Seeing her terrified, like a startled rabbit, only seemed to amuse him.
He braced his hands on either side of the doorframe, tilting his head as he looked at her. “What are you so afraid of? It’s not like I’m going to eat you.”
His eyes were the color of dark ink, flecked with a gray that hinted at mixed heritage, and they shone with the same predatory excitement as before.
“Miss Shu, aren't you going to invite me in?”
He asked politely, but the question sent a chill down her spine.
She knew exactly who Lin Zechen was and what he was capable of. There was no way she was letting him inside.
Her face hardened. “I’m sorry, this is a friend’s place. It’s not convenient.”
She moved to shut the door again, but he was faster. With a single long stride, he was inside, pulling the door closed behind him.
He was in. The door was shut. Her escape route was gone. A shadow fell over Shu Wan’s expression.
“Mr. Lin, what do you want?”
“You.”
As he spoke, his eyes were fixed on her chest, making no attempt to hide his intentions.
Before falling asleep, Shu Wan had changed into a silky nightgown with a low neckline.
Lin Zechen was taller than her, and from his vantage point, he had an unobstructed view.
She quickly pulled the matching robe closed, covering herself.
But the movement only cinched the fabric tighter, accentuating the curves of her body—her full bust and narrow waist.
Her face, small enough to fit in his palm, was pale with a sickly fragility that somehow made a man want to protect her. Her features were soft, flawless. Her eyes, clear and luminous as a lake, looked as if they could hold all the stars in the sky.
Beneath the cascade of dark, wavy hair was the swell of her breasts, a delicate waist, and long, pale legs.
She was the kind of woman whose sensual, fiery figure could make a man’s blood boil with a single glance.
It was her face and body that had captivated Lin Zechen from the moment she’d come to deliver those documents. He’d wanted to take her right then and there.
Now, seeing her standing before him in a thin, sexy nightgown, he lost all control.
A wave of heat crashed through him, stripping away his reason. He lunged forward, pinning Shu Wan against the wall.
“I’ll give you a million dollars. Spend one night with me.”
Shu Wan trembled, pressing her hands against his chest in a desperate attempt to keep him at bay.
“Get off me! I’m not a prostitute!”
She had just escaped the fate of being a rich man’s kept woman. The irony that someone else was already trying to buy her was laughable.
“Five million. And a villa.”
“Even if you offered me a hundred million, I’d say no! You’d better let me go, or I’m calling the police!”
“Go ahead,” he sneered. “Let’s see who dares to arrest me.”
He was completely unafraid, his lips descending on her face in a messy trail of kisses.
Shu Wan twisted her head, trying to dodge him, but he managed to press a kiss to her forehead.
The cold touch of his lips on her skin felt like being licked by a snake, filling her with utter revulsion.
