Chi Wan’s gaze met his. In a voice that was soft but firm, she said it again. "Let's get a divorce, Huo Sihan. Happy birthday. Do you like your present?"
Not a muscle in Huo Sihan’s handsome face moved. "All this drama over a birthday? You want a divorce just because I wasn't here?"
"Chi Jiao is back, isn't she?" Chi Wan countered.
At the mention of Chi Jiao’s name, a cold smirk touched Huo Sihan’s lips as he let out a soft scoff.
He closed the distance between them in long, deliberate strides. "Is this about Chi Jiao?"
As the youngest business titan of his generation, Huo Sihan radiated an intimidating aura forged from wealth, power, and status. As he loomed closer, Chi Wan instinctively took a step back.
Her slender back met the cool, hard surface of the wall.
A shadow fell over her as Huo Sihan moved in, slamming a hand against the wall beside her head and caging her between his lean, muscular chest and the unforgiving surface.
Huo Sihan looked down at her, a sarcastic smirk playing on his lips. "Everyone in Haicheng knew I was supposed to marry Chi Jiao. You knew that when you schemed your way into becoming Mrs. Huo, didn't you? You didn't seem to mind then. Why the sudden act now?"
The color drained from Chi Wan's face.
He was right. He was supposed to marry Chi Jiao.
If he hadn't fallen into a coma, she never would have had the chance.
She would never forget the day he woke up—the undisguised disappointment and chilling indifference in his eyes the moment they landed on her.
They had slept in separate rooms ever since. He had never touched her.
He loved Chi Jiao.
She knew all of this, and yet…
Chi Wan stared into his handsome face, the image of the boy she once knew slowly superimposing itself over the man before her. *Huo Sihan, do you really not remember me at all?*
It seemed she was the only one still trapped in the past.
*Enough.*
She would consider these past three years a final, solitary indulgence of her love for him.
Swallowing the bitter ache in her chest, Chi Wan said, "Huo Sihan, let's put an end to this sexless marriage."
Huo Sihan’s sharp eyebrows shot up. A low, magnetic voice rolled from his throat, uttering a single word. "Sexless?"
He reached out, his fingers closing around her delicate chin. His thumb brushed against her crimson lips, pressing down in a suggestive caress. "So that's what this is about. What, you're desperate for it now?"
A furious blush scorched Chi Wan's cheeks, turning them the color of ripe berries.
That wasn't what she meant!
But now his thumb, with the faint whorl of his fingerprint, was stroking her lips, a deliberate, malicious pressure. She never imagined such a handsome and distinguished man could have this kind of crudely provocative side.
He was toying with her lips with his finger.
It was the first time Huo Sihan had ever looked at Chi Wan this closely. She always dressed in black and white and wore a pair of large, black-framed glasses, packaging herself like some drab old woman.
But up close, he realized her face was no bigger than his palm. The glasses couldn't hide the delicate, refined features beneath, and paired with a set of doe-like eyes, dark and clear, she was an unexpected beauty.
Her lips were soft.
Where his finger pressed, the color would blanch for a moment before rushing back, full and supple.
It made a man want a taste.
Huo Sihan's eyes darkened. "I never knew Mrs. Huo was so insatiable. Are you that desperate for a man?"
*Slap!*
Chi Wan’s hand flew up and struck his face.
Huo Sihan’s head snapped to the side from the force.
Chi Wan’s fingertips trembled with rage. It was true what they said—love too humbly, and your heart will be trampled. He had dared to humiliate her like this.
"I know you've never forgotten Chi Jiao," she said, her voice thick with shame and fury. "Now I'm giving you what you want. I'm giving her back the title of Mrs. Huo!"
The warmth vanished from Huo Sihan’s handsome face, replaced by a layer of frost. A man of his stature had never been struck. Never!
He turned back, his gaze cold and sharp. "Chi Wan, you marry me when you want, you divorce me when you want. What do you take me for?"
Chi Wan laughed. "A toy."
What?
Huo Sihan froze.
Forcing the words past the pain in her heart, she said, "You were just a toy I snatched from Chi Jiao. Now I'm bored of it. I'm throwing it away."
Huo Sihan’s expression was so dark it could have dripped ink. "Fine. You’ve got guts, Chi Wan. Fine, we'll get a divorce. But don't you come crying back to me, begging me to take you back!"
He stormed upstairs and into the study, slamming the door with a deafening crash.
As if all her strength had abandoned her, Chi Wan’s slender body slid down the wall.
She huddled on the carpet, wrapping her arms around herself. *Huo Sihan, I will not love you anymore.*
…………
The next morning.
Wu Ma pushed open the study door and went inside.
Huo Sihan was sitting in his office chair, reviewing documents. He was a notorious workaholic.
"Sir," Wu Ma called out.
Huo Sihan didn't even lift his eyes. It was obvious he was in a foul mood; the temperature around him had dropped to freezing.
Wu Ma carefully placed a cup of coffee beside his hand. "Sir, the madam made this coffee for you."
The hand holding the pen paused. The frigid expression on his face softened slightly.
Was this her way of making peace?
To be fair, Chi Wan was a good wife. She would cook for him according to his tastes, hand-wash his clothes, and take care of his every need.
Huo Sihan picked up the coffee and took a sip.
It was her coffee, made just the way he liked it.
Still, he was angry.
She had slapped him last night. He planned on holding that grudge for a long time.
A single cup of coffee wasn't going to fix it.
"Has she learned her lesson?" Huo Sihan asked.
Wu Ma shot him a strange look. "…Sir, the madam is gone."
Huo Sihan froze, looking up at Wu Ma.
Wu Ma held out a document. "Sir, she left with a suitcase. She asked me to give this to you before she went."
Huo Sihan took the paper and opened it. Five bold words jumped out at him: "Divorce Agreement."
He was speechless. And here he thought she was trying to apologize.
Wu Ma added, "Sir, the madam said you should drink your coffee and sign the papers quickly."
Huo Sihan’s cold gaze shot to the coffee cup. "Throw it out! Throw it all out!"
*But sir,* Wu Ma thought, *you were just enjoying it a moment ago. Why don't you like it now?*
Not daring to say another word, Wu Ma grabbed the coffee and vanished.
Huo Sihan’s face was thunderous. He quickly scanned the agreement. She wasn’t asking for a cent, leaving with nothing.
He sneered. So, she had some pride after all. Not taking a single dollar from him. Did a girl from the countryside like her even have money to live on?
Hadn't she schemed to take her sister's place and marry him three years ago precisely for money?
Just then, Huo Sihan's eyes narrowed. He had seen the reason for divorce.
Written in Chi Wan’s own hand: *Reason for divorce: The husband is physically incapable and suffers from sexual dysfunction, rendering him unable to fulfill his marital duties.*
Huo Sihan was seeing red.
His handsome face turned completely black.
That damned woman!
Huo Sihan grabbed his phone and dialed Chi Wan’s number.
The call connected quickly. Chi Wan's clear voice came through the line. "Hello?"
