Chapter 5 - What's the relationship with Mu Shuyu?
Author: Luna Pierce
Nov 18, 2025
Wen Xi stared, confused, at the man in the driver's seat—Qin Siyan, one of the most popular figures at A University. He was a rich playboy from a world entirely separate from her own. The only reason their paths had crossed at all was because Qin Siyan had been relentlessly pursuing her lately. "In a hurry, little sister?" Qin Siyan called out, leaning one arm against the open car window. A roguish grin spread across his face. "Need a ride?" Wen Xi frowned. She wanted nothing to do with someone like him, but it was obvious she’d be late even if she managed to catch the bus now. After a moment's hesitation, she grit her teeth and slid into the passenger seat. "Thanks." The ostentatious red sports car tore down the street. Inside, Qin Siyan glanced at the rearview mirror. "You still haven't told me where you live." "Tianhe Villa District, on Chang'an Street in the Southcheng area." Qin Siyan raised an eyebrow. *What a coincidence.* A smirk played on his lips, but he didn't press for more. Half an hour later, the car pulled into the Tianhe Villa District. "Wen Xi, which house is yours?" "Thank you, Qin Siyan. You can just let me out here." Qin Siyan didn't stop the car. He had no intention of letting her go without knowing exactly where she lived. "If you don't tell me, I'll just keep driving in circles." A sense of resignation washed over Wen Xi. "Over there," she said, her voice flat. "Number 7, around the corner." Number 7... Qin Siyan’s eyes narrowed, his expression becoming unreadable. He pulled the car to a stop in front of house number 7. Wen Xi got out, murmuring another thank you. She was just about to head inside when a black Bentley glided to a halt right in front of Qin Siyan’s car. Seeing it, Qin Siyan killed the engine, hopped out, and waved at the occupants. "Fourth Brother! Wan'zhi! You're right on time." Wen Xi froze. She never expected to run into Lu Qinghan here—much less hear Qin Siyan call him *Fourth Brother*. Lu Qinghan stepped out of the Bentley. His gaze flickered from Qin Siyan to Wen Xi, a cool, dismissive glance that made her entire body go rigid. *Damn it,* she thought, panic rising. *I forgot my mask!* Qin Siyan, oblivious, quickly made the introductions. "Wen Xi, this is my cousin, Lu Qinghan, and my other cousin, Lu Wan'zhi." "Brother," he said, turning to Lu Qinghan, "this is my... classmate. Her name is Wen Xi." "Wen Xi..." Lu Qinghan repeated the name, his voice low, as if tasting the syllables. An image flashed in his mind: the terrified maid from that night, cornered like a frightened animal. "You two know each other?" Qin Siyan asked, his eyes wide with surprise. Even Lu Wan'zhi, standing quietly to the side, shot Wen Xi a curious second glance. Lu Qinghan closed the distance between them, his steps slow and deliberate. He stopped right in front of her, dipping his head slightly, his gaze sharp and analytical as it swept over her face. He had to admit, the resemblance to Mu Shuyu was uncanny. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he would never have believed two people could look so strikingly similar. Under his intense, close-range scrutiny, Wen Xi's entire body went taut. She was terrified he would recognize her as the woman from that night. She stammered quickly, "No... we don't know each other..." Lu Qinghan raised a single eyebrow. He studied the woman before him—trembling with fear yet forcing a fragile smile—and a dark, knowing look flickered in his eyes. "What," he asked, his voice soft but edged with steel, "is your relationship with Shuyu?"
