Deng Jiazhe offered a warm smile, patting the little one’s head as if nothing were amiss. “Let’s go!” he said.
Erbao’s wide, dark eyes looked up at me timidly, and he didn’t move. I walked over, took his small hand in mine, and gave it a gentle squeeze. “Come on, sweetie,” I coaxed. “We’re going home.”
