"I'm not having it. One more round, just you and me," Yan Ze said, staring down Yan Luo.
"No way. You suck."
Yan Ze was speechless.
A yawn escaped Yan Luo as she turned to Xu Ye, her tone nonchalant. "Give me your keys. I'm going home to sleep. And don't forget to transfer me the money."
Xu Ye scrambled to hand over the car keys. "You got it, Sis. Take care, see you tomorrow."
Yan Ze tried to stop Yan Luo from leaving, but Xu Ye held him back.
"Yan Ze," Xu Ye taunted, "call me daddy!"
...
Down in the underground parking garage, a black Maserati was parked next to Xu Ye's Lamborghini. It was a one-of-a-kind global limited edition, priced at eighty million dollars. She had tried to buy it back then, but someone else had snatched it up first. Yan Luo had lamented the loss for days. To think she'd run into the very same car today. A pang of regret hit her. What a beautiful machine.
Just then, a man in a black suit rounded the corner. He appeared to be the Maserati's owner. Yan Luo hadn't gotten into her car yet. Their eyes met, and for a few seconds, the air around them went still.
"It's you." Fu Xiangchen's deep voice held a dangerous edge.
This woman, the one who'd dumped him in a public restroom—he'd been searching for her for a full day. But Fu Xiangchen's men had been utterly useless, unable to find a single trace of her.
He'd come to A-City for a business meeting tonight, only to run into her by sheer, unbelievable coincidence.
Yan Luo recognized him too. Wasn't this the man she'd saved last night?
"Fancy seeing you here!"
So, he was the owner of the Maserati. Considering she'd saved his life, maybe he could just give her the car as a thank-you gift?
"It is a coincidence," he said, his voice dropping low. "Dumping me in a public restroom? Stealing my property? You've got a hell of a nerve, woman. But tonight, you're going to pay for what you did."
Fu Xiangchen advanced on Yan Luo, backing her against the cool metal of the car. His intense, masculine presence washed over her.
An uncomfortable shiver ran down her spine, and she shoved him away. "You told me to take you somewhere safe!" she retorted, annoyed. "And that necklace was my payment for saving you!"
A public restroom. Safe. The words made Fu Xiangchen let out a short, humorless laugh.
"Fine. I'll let the public restroom slide for now. Give me back the necklace."
Hearing this, Yan Luo scoffed. "And if I don't?"
"Little girl, do you have any idea what happens to people who cross me?"
"Nope."
Before he could react, Yan Luo drove her foot into his shin. While he was stunned, she jumped into the Lamborghini, slammed her foot on the gas, and sped away.
She didn't care who he was. If there was one thing Yan Luo wasn't afraid of, it was making enemies. Besides, after today, they'd never see each other again.
By the time Fu Xiangchen recovered, he was already in his own car, tearing after her. Damn that woman! She actually dared to lay a hand on him. When he caught her, he was going to make her regret it.
The two luxury cars flew down the road. Fu Xiangchen had always been confident in his driving skills. The woman wasn't getting away today.
Yan Luo noticed the car glued to her tail. Amusing, but she was too tired to play games with this man right now.
She floored the accelerator, and the car shot forward as if it had wings. In a matter of minutes, Fu Xiangchen realized he'd lost her.
That goddamn woman!
The next time he saw her, Fu Xiangchen swore he would dump her at the bottom of the ocean.
With a dark expression, he drove home. But as he pulled up to the entrance of his gated community, he saw a black Lamborghini parked right there. His eyes widened for a second, and then a slow, predatory smile spread across his face.
So, the woman from the garage lived in his neighborhood... What a perfect coincidence.
