Chi Muzhen regarded her with a placid expression. “I’m going home.” “Home? How boring. Tonight, to celebrate you returning to MY and escaping the tomb of marriage, I’ve booked a booth at Meise. I heard they have a new batch of male hosts. I’m taking you to see what you’ve been missing!” Shen Tian grinned, waggling her eyebrows at Chi Muzhen, her eyes dancing with an excitement she couldn’t contain. Chi Muzhen suspected that once Shen Tian saw the hosts, she’d probably throw herself at them. A wry smile played on her lips. “Are you taking me to see them, or is this for your own benefit?” Not in the least bit embarrassed at being called out, Shen Tian slung an arm around Chi Muzhen’s neck. “Baby, what’s mine is yours! Besides, you were so hung up on Huo Yunting because you’d never seen the splendors this world has to offer! Stick with me tonight, and I guarantee you’ll be more than satisfied. By tomorrow morning, you won’t even remember who Huo Yunting is!” Chi Muzhen couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle. “I think I’ll pass. You should enjoy a good thing like that all to yourself. I’m not interested.” Seeing Chi Muzhen about to leave, Shen Tian quickly grabbed her arm. “You’ve got nothing to do at home anyway, right? Just keep me company! And you’re getting a divorce—are you still planning on saving yourself for Huo Yunting?” That wasn’t Chi Muzhen’s intention at all, but seeing the look on Shen Tian’s face—a look that said she wouldn’t take no for an answer—she could only nod with a resigned sigh. “Fine. But I’m making it clear, just this once.” A wicked grin instantly spread across Shen Tian’s face. “Got it! Let’s go, we can grab dinner first!” After dinner, the two headed to the club. The moment they stepped inside, a deafening beat assaulted their ears. Under the kaleidoscopic lights, bodies writhed on the dance floor, their cheers and screams echoing through the space. Shen Tian led her directly to the second floor. The club had two levels: the first held the dance floor and open booths, while the second featured more private rooms, including glass-walled booths. The glass booths were designed for patrons who wanted to watch the crowd on the dance floor below, but they offered little privacy; anything that happened inside was visible to the outside. A waiter showed Shen Tian and Chi Muzhen to one such glass booth. Soon, the drinks they ordered arrived, along with two male hosts. Gazing at the two handsome, delicate-featured men before them, Shen Tian shot Chi Muzhen a triumphant look. “See, Zhenzhen? Didn’t I tell you? Take your pick. I’ll take whoever’s left.” The hosts at Meise were for companionship only, not for hire outside the club. Each one had a particular skill, like singing, dancing, or performing magic tricks. Chi Muzhen’s cool gaze swept over the two men before she smiled at Shen Tian. “Why don’t you take both? You seem to like them equally.” “No way. We share the good things in life. How about this: the one closer to you is yours, and the one closer to me is mine!” The hosts knew their cue. The moment Shen Tian finished speaking, they smoothly sat down beside each woman. “What should I call you, miss? My name is Junjie. Is there anything I can do for you?” The man’s smiling gaze settled on Chi Muzhen’s face, his heart pounding with excitement. He had never had a client this beautiful, a true natural beauty. He’d hit the jackpot tonight. If every client were like her, he’d be willing to break the rules. Chi Muzhen gave him a cool glance, her tone distant. “You don’t have to do anything. Just sit here quietly.” She was completely out of her element in a place like this and was already starting to regret coming out with Shen Tian. Junjie paused, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. But his professional training kicked in, and he quickly regained his composure. “Then how about I sing a song for you both?” he offered with a smile. “I’m a pretty good singer.” Chi Muzhen nodded. “Alright.” Junjie quickly selected a song, and a low, pleasant melody filled the booth. Across from her, Chi Muzhen saw Shen Tian already feeding pieces of fruit to her host. The sight made a blush creep up her cheeks, and she quickly turned away, trying to focus on Junjie’s singing. As Liang Zixuan was passing by their booth, he glanced inside out of habit, and his eyes widened in shock. He was one of the few close friends who knew about Chi Muzhen and Huo Yunting’s secret marriage, a fact known only to the Chi and Huo families. He never would have imagined that the prim and proper Chi Muzhen, as Huo Yunting described her, would ever show up in a club. A smirk tugged at his lips. This was going to be good. He turned away and hurried into a booth nearby. The moment he pushed the door open, Jin Yi’s laughing voice greeted him. “Zixuan, you’re more than half an hour late. This round’s on you!” Inside the booth were Jin Yi and Qi Yunzhe, and sitting apart from them, radiating an unapproachable aura, was Huo Yunting, downing his drink with a cold expression. While Jin Yi and Qi Yunzhe each had a scantily clad woman by their side, Huo Yunting sat alone. Liang Zixuan shut the door, cutting off the deafening music from outside. He sat down next to them, glanced at Huo Yunting, and said, “You’ll never guess who I just saw outside.” “Who?” Jin Yi asked, his interest piqued. “That ex-girlfriend of yours who faked a pregnancy test to try and trap you into marriage?” Liang Zixuan was known for playing the field, but he’d recently gotten burned by a calculating starlet. The incident had prompted his mother to force him into a series of arranged dates to find a wife from a family of equal standing. To escape her matchmaking, he’d been sleeping at his office for the past few days. Liang Zixuan’s face darkened. “Shut up, Jin Yi. No one will think you’re dead if you don’t speak!” That only deepened Jin Yi’s grin. “So who was it? Spit it out! You’re lucky we’re not making you down three shots for being so late. Stop dragging it out like some blushing maiden.” “You won’t believe me when I tell you. I saw Yunting’s wife.” The words hung in the air. Huo Yunting froze, his glass halfway to his lips, his icy gaze snapping towards Liang Zixuan. “Are you sure?” Liang Zixuan nodded, clearly enjoying the drama. “She’s here with a friend. They each ordered a male host. When I passed by, she was staring at one of them while he sang to her. Yunting, it seems your wife isn’t waiting for the divorce to be final…” Before he could finish, Huo Yunting slammed his glass onto the table. He shot to his feet and strode out of the room. The nerve of her. First, she demands a divorce, then she blocks his number, and now she has the audacity to come to a club and hire a male host. She was getting bolder by the second. Liang Zixuan stared after Huo Yunting’s retreating back, mystified. He turned to Jin Yi and Qi Yunzhe. “Doesn’t he like Chi Xuan? Why is he reacting like this over Chi Muzhen hiring a host?” Jin Yi shrugged. “It doesn’t matter if he likes her or not. They’re still married. If your wife was publicly making a fool out of you, would you be okay with it?” As he saw it, Huo Yunting’s reaction had nothing to do with his feelings for Chi Muzhen. It was purely about a man’s pride, about not tolerating his woman being openly intimate with another man. Beside them, Qi Yunzhe’s eyes flickered, and the hand at his side tightened into a fist. He picked up his glass and drained it in one gulp. “Oh, right,” Liang Zixuan added. “You’ll be shocked when you hear who Chi Muzhen’s friend is.” “Who?” Jin Yi asked, his interest already waning. “Shen Tian!” At the name, Jin Yi’s expression turned venomous. He gritted his teeth. “Who did you say?” “Shen Tian. You know, the one whose family went bankrupt a few years back. We all used to go to the same parties. Why?” Jin Yi let out a cold laugh, enunciating each word. “No reason. Just asking.” With that, he wrapped an arm around the woman next to him, pulled out his phone, and snapped a selfie, which he immediately posted to his social feed. A flicker of surprise and hope crossed the woman’s face as she gazed adoringly at Jin Yi. “Mr. Jin, are you…” His expression was glacial. “Don’t get the wrong idea. This is just for a certain someone to see.” The woman’s face fell, the color draining from her cheeks as she realized her mistake. Outside, Huo Yunting’s eyes scanned the club, and he quickly spotted Chi Muzhen in one of the glass booths. He saw her feeding a piece of fruit to the man beside her, her slender, pale fingers nearly touching the man’s lips. The sight fanned the flames of his rage, sending them blazing higher. Inside the booth, Shen Tian had noticed Chi Muzhen’s lack of enthusiasm and suggested a game of Truth or Dare. Chi Muzhen lost a round, and for her dare, Shen Tian told her to feed the host a piece of fruit. Just as she placed the fruit in the man’s mouth, the booth door was thrown open. An ice-cold voice, seething with rage, sliced through the air from the doorway. “Chi Muzhen!”
